Urd plants are small shrubs which grow upto a height of about 30 cm
and are well branched.
The leaves and stems are covered with rough reddish hairs and the
plants are dark green in colour due to these hairs.
The stem is slightly ridged, covered with brown hairs.
The leaves are large trifoliate and are also hairy, generally with
a purplish tinge. The colour of leaves is green to dark green. The leaflets
are 5-10 cm long, broad, ovate and entire.
The infloresence consists of a cluster of 5-6 flowers at a top of
a long hairy peduncle. There are 5 sepals and 5 petals. Stamens 9 and
1 style hairy and spirally twisted.
The flowers are axillary, recemose, complete, self pollinated and
yellow in colour.
The pods are 4-6 cm long, slender, covered with small hairs, black
or greenish in colour, and they contain 8 to 15 seeds in them.
