Rice
- The incidence of Gallmidge and BPH is noticed in Vizianagaram
district.
Gallmidge: Apply Carbofuran 3G @ 10 Kg per acre, if 5% silver shoots
or one silver shoot per hill is noticed at tillering stage.
BPH: To manage the pest adopt the following measures.
- Alternate drying and wetting of field.
- Provide alley ways of 20 cm for every 2 m before spraying, If not
provided at the time of planting.
- Spray Ethofenprox @ 1.5 ml or Acephate @ 1.5 g or BPMC @ 2ml per litre
of water, If more than 10 hoppers per hill at tillering or 20-25 hoppers
per hill are observed at panicle initiation stage.
- The incidence of Leaf folder is observed in Ranga Reddy
and Vishakhapatnam districts. Control by spraying Acephate @ 1.5 g or
Cartap hydrochloride 50 SP @ 2 g per litre of water, if one larva or
two damaged leaves per hill are observed at boot leaf stage.
- The incidence of leaf mite is noticed in Nalgonda District.
To control, spray wettable Sulphur @ 3 g or Dicofol @ 5 ml per litre
of water.
- In Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts,
the incidence of blast is noticed on Swarna and Samba Mahsuri. Control
it by spraying Tricyclazole @ 0.6 g if 5% leaf damage is noticed. Further
remove the weeds in and around the field and field bunds and delay the
application of Nitrogen fertilizer.
- The incidence of sheath blight is noticed in Vizianagaram,
Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts. Prevailing weather is congenial

of water.
- Zinc deficiency is noticed in MTU 1001 and MTU 1010 in
Karimnagar, Srikakulam and Vishakhapatnam Districts. Correct it by spraying
ZnSO4 @ 2 g per litre of water 2-3 times at 5-7 days interval.

noticed in cotton. Drain out excess water and spray urea @ 10 g per
litre of water 2-3 times at 7-10 days interval.

instar larvae.
- Arrange T- shaped bird perches @ 15-20 per acre .
- As a prophylactic measure, spray NSKE @ 5%.
- To control, spray Acephate or Thiodicarb @ 1.5 g per litre of water,
if one egg mass per 10 plants or early instar larvae are observed.
- Arrange poison baits (Rice bran @ 5 Kg + jaggery @ 500 g + Monocrotophos
@ 500 ml or Carbaryl @ 500g) in the evening hours for controlling grown
up larvae.
Groundnut
- Prevailing weather is congenial for the incidence of
Tikka leaf spot and rust in Groundnut. To control, spray Mancozeb @
2.5 g + Carbendazim @ 1 g per litre of water.
- To prevent the occurrence of PSND (Peanut Stem Necrosis
Disease), and PBND (Peanut Bud Necrosis Disease), monitor the incidence
of thrips and control vector by spraying Monocrotophos @ 1.6 ml or Dimethoate
@ 2 ml per litre of water. As a preventive measure, remove Parthenium
and other weeds in and around the field from time to time.
